Shearon Harris Lake - 2/23/2017

I took the afternoon off today to do some exploring with my oldest son. We didn't fish. We just paddled around the lake. He's kind of the nervous type and tends to fixate on possible-but-highly-improbable "dangers". As a parent, it can be frustrating at times but the best way to deal with it is to be patient and let him prove to himself that it's all safe. Going over all the safety precautions and what to do in an emergency doesn't hurt either. So these sessions are good to get him acclimated to uncertain activities in general and kayaking in particular. It's definitely working. He really enjoyed himself, as did I.
